WELCOME Mike Hanson!  Mike is no stranger to ZRR - he and his son Michael have been a part of our team for two years and we are excited to have him take over the driving seat in the team car.  His knowledge and experience in the racing field and Engineering side is truly incredible and are very fortunate to have him racing with us. Mike will be steering for the majority of the 2010 events with the exception of several races where we will have a "guest driver".  Below are some details on Mike.

Hometown:  Born in Milwaukee WI and now calls home New Glarus WI

Schooling:  Milwaukee School of Engineering; BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology

Current Employment:  Affiliated Engeers, Inc - Project Engineer

Why Racing? :  Mike's parents attended any type of racing event in the Midwest.  A typical summer would include Friday night races at Hales Corner's dirt track and Sunday nights at the paved high-banked quarter mile Slinger Speedway.  Mike's parents also had top row season tickets for the Milwaukee Mile races and would cheer for AJ Foyt and Jack Bowser while Mike and his brothers seats were the window alcoves at the top of the grandstands

Racing History: Mike started as a crew member on a super late model on the Perko racing team in the mid 80's.  The Perko family team fielded two super late models and raced at Slinger Speedway, Wisconsin International Raceway and Dells Raceway Park.  When Slinger Speedway introduced the hobby stock class, Mike took his daily ride and created a hobby stock race car from a 1978 Ford Thunderbird.   Mike raced in the hobby stock division at Slinger Speedway for 5 years.  Then, while helping on Craig Perko's team, Mike drove the super late for 1 season.  Mike took time off from driving and full time crew support to focus on his family, still helping the Perko team when he was able.  When Mike's son, Michael was approached by Pete Raskovic, regarding the ASA Educational Series, Mike was excited to see his son get involved in this dynamic sport.  Both Mike and Michael helped the Zack Riddle Race Team for the last two years and have enjoyed the experience.  Mike is excited being back into the sport with his own family and is looking forward to working with other young people as the sport continues to grow and involve.
