Brookings, South Dakota Recap Feb 5-7, 2009 : FANTASTIC facilty and racing were on tap at Brookings,SD Swiftel Thunder races. GREAT facility, Promoter - Mike Foster, staff, racers, action and fun were on tap and this event will be a return for ZRCE in 2009/10 Indoor Season... We rank it in the top 2 for the year. No feature wins, but plenty of heat wins. THANK YOU to Tyler Kelley for making the trip with the team and wrenching. Cody took a HARD hit first night and went to his back up kart for the duration and actually got his first "flip" in the books. He was fine and ended his feature with a 5th, flip and all. Zack was fast but no feature wins in his column either but they knew he was there. THANK YOU to Bryan Cataldi and TRICK SPEED TIRES for the insight, ADVANCED ENGINES and Andy VanCleef for the horsepower.
This ENDS Zack's indoor season - it's LATEMODEL TIME but Cody is ready for outdoor '09. Zack also hopes to pick up a few outdoors on his off days. Zack and Tyler will be taking on the best in the Midwest at Madison and the Big 8 Late Model Season. THANK YOU to all the folks we met this indoor season - we have several BIG changes planned for next year - See you all then!
Video HiLites: Here's a couple of links for the King of Concrete & Ft Wayne Rumble December race videos. Look close and you shoud be able to pickout Zack and Cody. Cody steering the 93 & Zack in the flatblack 94. May take a minute or so to load but well worth the wait. Enjoy!
Indoor Karting Update.. after a break from the karting for LateModel stuff, the team has the Brookings, South Dakota race February 5-7th next on the schedule. The team is getting down to crunch time with less than 90 days prior to the first Big 8 LateModel show at Rockford so the time line is getting extremely tight.
Next up for ZRCE: Taking A Weekend Off ;) Des Moines sounds GREAT but due to the Rockford Racer's Auction and Zacks Lefthander going thru Zack, Cody & crew are going to be PLENTY busy! We DO have the Brookings South Dakota race on the schedule the first week in February so that's the next "big one". Stay Tuned!
Fort Wayne, Indiana Rumble Series Recap December 26 & 27, 2008
12/28 Update: Fort Wayne made for GREAT racing with a two day show. Cody hit the track for Saturday's Junior Gold race with 1 practice prior to his heat race. Had some problems with jetting on the motor in the first one and had a heck of a crash with the inside tire wall in the second heat (the WesBar held up great!) and he suffered minimal damage. He was forced to start the Consi dead last and made his way up to third, one short of making the feature.
Zack and team got the kart rolling somewhat better on Saturday. He along with Mike May, Brandon Young and Nate Gressman were the ONLY 4 drivers to make all 4 features out of all the Senior racers there - Zack was the only Wisconsin driver in the group. Zack ended up with no feature wins, but a couple heat wins and great racing! Michael May was the man to beat and congrats to him on his last ride for Ivers Motorsports. We wish him well in his 2009 races and hope to meet up with him over the summer at his races or Zack's.
THANK YOU to Tyler Kelley who made the trip with the team to wrench on Zack and Cody's kart. Tyler's help has been HUGE this indoor winter season and we appreciate it!
12/27 Update: First off, thank you to whoever decided to help themselves to tires and such from our pits last night. We'll be keeping an eye out for them. Racing Update.. Cody and Zack are both racing - Cody in Junior Gold and Zack Sr. Medium & Heavy and Zack should be on track right now. Here's an like that will keep you uptodate on what's going on. http://karting.4cycle.com/showthread.php?t=228638
12/26 Update: Zack makes both Sr Races - Medium & Heavy: Resulting in 8th & 9th. LOTSof nasty hits &wrecks. Zack took a hard hit in Sr Medium which knocked the toe out bad but came back for an 8th place. The kart & driver are in one piece but kart is not responding to adjustments as well as wished for... now driver & crew need to put their thinking caps on and make improvements over night for Saturday's race. Either way being the only Wisconsin Sr Driver making both shows and kart & driver in one piece are SUPER. Cody's racing is on hold until a decison is made on whether to put him on track at this EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, FAST track. Stay tuned for Saturday's results.
2008 KOC Results: A Beautiful Facility and Great Track made for racing the KOC memorable. Zack, Cody & Mark hit the track for practice Friday night and things looked good. Unfortunately, race results were not. The tire set up never came to the team and we struggled all day. Cody brought the Concept home in 3rd for KOC Junior Gold after another kart spinning in front of him on the opening lap. Lot's of damage but he steered it his best. Congrats to Ray Seach on his win.
Things were looking good for Zack on Friday's practices until track conditons changed Saturday and the kart just would not "grip". The team threw everything they could at it but our setups did not agree with the track. Zack won his heat but was taken out of his feature on a yellow flag lap by another Wisconsin driver. Mark Sitton who raced Super Heavy with us did a FANTASTIC job finishing his first KOC feature race in 6th. He was GREAT to have along and we enjoyed him.
THANK YOU to Stevie and her friend Jim for allowing us to stay at Lake Norman and for taking the guys thru Dale Earnhard Inc. for a tour. Thanks to Tyler Kelley, Wes Arndt & Justin Everson for making the trip with us - they worked nonstop from arrival to loadup. Thank you to Kelsey Olson for flying down thru all the snow delays on Friday to surprise Zack. Andy Harris (KOC Promoter) was a great guy and set this event up to be a truly fantastic show. We met alot of great folks and had a heck of a good time - plans are already underway for 2009's return trip. The team is next racing the Rumble Series race in Ft Wayne, IN on Friday & Saturday, Dec. 26 & 27th. Nascar's own Tony Stewart is pre-entered. Merry Christmas & see you in Ft Wayne!

We're hoping to get Andy VanCleef of Advance Racing Engines to join us at this exciting event. See You There! Here's a Link:http://www.ohioindoorkartingseries.comNovember 22, 2008 Waterloo Iowa Recap: Well, Waterloo has never been a favorite to the team and this race stayed true to form. Cody chose not to race in lieu of deer hunting. Waterloo is a very "different" type of race venue - LOTS of bumping, bending and some nasty hits were on tap but we're proud of how Zack did. Zack made both features for Senior Medium and Heavy after lot's of mishaps in the heats. He started from the tail for both features and ended up 3rd in Heavy and 3rd in Medium.. Waterloo didn't have it that way and gave him a 6th for Medium. We have a copy of the video are disapointed with some of the choices that were by the track.. so be it.. that's racing indoor at Waterloo. THANK YOU to Jon Ivers/Concept Chassis, Bryan Cataldi of Trick Speed Cuts and Andy VanCleef for the Advanced Racing Engines. THANK YOU to Wes Arndt, Justin Everson and Especially Tyler Kelley for hauling the kart to the track for Zack.. he couldn't have done it without them.
November 19, 2008 -The team is finishing up kart setups & getting ready to hit Waterloo Iowa for the King of the Syrup for this Saturdays races. Bryan Cataldi of Speed Trick Cuts is racing himself! Click the Link Following: King of the Syrup See you There!

November 10, 2008 - Here's a link showing the start of the Senior Medium Race with Cody and Zack (at about 1 minute in). Too bad they have lot's of Midget Hi-Lites.. (we think the kart race was the best!) Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85LMU4vPEiANovember 2, 2008WOW! GREAT showing for ZRCE at the Columbus Ohio Rumble Series... WIN's by Zack in Senior Medium and Heavy. Cody brought the 93 kart in for Senior Medium in 8th. Zack had bad luck in his Heavy heat while ahead by about a half a lap when he made contact with a kart who had crashed at the start/finish line on the last lap. Zack was scored as a "DNF" and had to race the Consi and win.... he did so. He then had to start the feature in the back and make his way forward for the win and again did so. Cody steered his 3rd indoor race to an 8th place.. simply awesome! It was great and hard racing and the team had to work for it. Thank You to crew member Wesley Arndt for making the trip and running from the time the team arrived to when we loaded up to keep up with 3 racer's. THANK YOU to Andy Van Cleef/Advanced Racing Engine's for the horsepower, BryanCataldi/Trick Sped Cuts for his tire's, Jon Ivers/Concept Karts for the chassis and prep, and Wesley Arndt/"WesBar"for his front end help.
