Oktoberfest Race Week Report - ZRR has never raced at the 5/8mile track in LaCrosse before and the track was a challenge. Practice took place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday prior to race day Saturday and we took advantage of all the track time allowed. 52 teams attempted to qualify with only the top 14 teams making their way into the feature and not requiring racing a heat or last chance. Zack timed in 14th.. a huge goal accomplished. The invert was not in his favor thus starting 14th was on the agenda. Using good driving and hard racing, 8th was the results. Not a win but a great learning experience for 2010.
THANK YOU to all the crew and friends that made their way to LaCrosse to help - you are all truly appreciated. Lots of pictures coming shortly..
This wraps up the LateModel racing schedule for 2009 and several BIG decisions are being made on which way to go for 2010. Stay tuned and as soon as a decision is made... we'll announce it.

Saturday September 12 2009 Recap
: It's been two years since ZRR last made a trip to DRP for racing - the last time visited Zack drove a crate motor car in the super class. This visit was the team's 4th time there and we were very impressed by all the improvements made to the facility. Great officials, tech folks, drivers and track operators made for a great visit. Qualifying placed Zack 9th fastest with a small problem in handling. Adjustments were made and a 20 lap heat race helped to make some decisions prior to the 75 lap feature. Starting on the pole was tremendous to give Zack time to adjust to the track. Leading until 10 laps to go, he was passed by Rich Schumann Jr, giving Zack a runner up finish. THANK YOU to the crew that made the trip - Wes Arndt, Brett Gustrowsky and Tyler Kelley sat out his own running to come along and assist. All in all a great race event and we hope to make plenty more races at DRP in the 2010 Season. Following is your results.
Next Weekend is Jefferson Speedway's 2Day Show and after much discussion, ZRR will NOT be racing Jefferson. Instead we will be setting up for Madison's Fall Classic September 25 & 26th. Hope to see you there!

MIS Season Championship Night - Friday September 4 2009 Recap The ZRR Team went to MIS for the last points night of the year sitting in a weak 4th place. Some problems were discovered that also plagued the team last week which resulted in LOTS of work for the team between qualifying, and each 30 lap feature. They hustled and got the work done! THANK YOU to several of the MIS drivers who donated parts to get ZRR back on track to race. Hard racing took place and a 5th and 6th were the results. Not wins but respectable finishes. These results allowed Zack to move to 3rd place OVERALL for the 2009 Season. ZRR has never placed in the top 3 and though we were looking for more than that for this year, we'll take it. CONGRATS to Jeremy Miller on the his Championship. Zack finishes up the year the 8th highest driver of 280 teams in the East USA. You can check out the points by Clicking the following and Hitting "East Complete Standings": Joe Gibbs ASA Driver Champion
THANK YOU to ZRR's neighbor Mike McCauley who has joined the team in the recent few weeks - his help has been incredible. This weekend the team heads to Wisconsin Dells Raceway Park for the LateModel Invitational. Here's a Link.. Hope to see you There!

Sunday August 30 2009 Recap - After a good qualifying effort and timing in to the features things did not go as planned for feature time. Starting inside pole was great and things looked good. Unfortunately, a broken break caliper and rotor were the blame and results were 19th & 20th. Not the results we were looking for but thankfully Zack was able to keep the car off the wall and bring it back in one piece. Here's a link to the start of the race with Zack on the pole.
Next FRIDAY September 4th is the final points race for MIS. Look for the ZRR team to make the most of it. Hope to see you there!

August 21 2009 Recap: Rain was in the MIS area but racing took place. A green track suited ZRR fine and a good qualifying lap of 18.829 for 2nd was the result. Several changes were tried for the heat race where Zack started shotgun on the field with mixed results of 4th. Again lots of work in the pits was done prior to the 1st feature. The Pathfinder/Wegner Ford Fusion had an odd feel from the green flag which Zack picked up on quickly. Running 4th exiting turn Dells the car took a jerk around which resulted in a spin. Restarting at the tail the tire picked up heat which added pressure and Zack used patience but caution to get back up to 10th out of 24 at the end of the first 30 lapper. Changes were made prior to the second 30 lapper but a bad valve stem on the front left tire showed - that had caused the problems in the 1st race. Starting 10th (5th row outside) with only 30 laps did not leave Zack enough time to make his way to the front so 5th was the result. Congrats to Dave Feiler & Scott Broughton on their wins. Also Congrats to MacKenzie Piller for steering the prior ZRR ride in her first dual features in a latemodel - she's getting the feel for the track and will be a force to be reckoned with in the future!
THANK YOU to the Schitzer Family for the VERY GENEROUS DONATION to the team to finish the 2009 Season. We couldn't do it without them! The Schitzer Family will be in the pit area with ZRR for Saturday's race... Thanks Again!
ZRR will not be on track next Friday (8/28) at MIS but will be in full force Saturday (8/29) for the MIS RK Productions Twin 50 lappers that were originally scheduled at the Milwaukee Mile. This race counts as a point race for MIS. Looks to be a fabulous racing Saturday and we hope to see you there!

Friday August 14 2009 Recap: The rescheduled BIG 8 Race and a MIS Points Race were on tap for tonight. Qualifying was not needed for the Big 8 Race but needed to be done for the MIS Feature - 7th with a 19.164 was placement. First race up after qualifying was the Big 8. Starting 3rd row inside for the 38 lapper had Zack racing to 2nd shortly into the race. Things looked great as the Pathfinder/Wegner was handeling great and a GREAT RUN was in sight. Zack hunted high and low to get around the race leader but despite this and repeated request by the track for the leader to "pick a lane" - Zack used his patience to make a charge to the front in the last few laps. Unfortunately with 5 laps to go a yellow came out for a spin that resulted in a restart. With assistance from a car in back of him he was spun on the restart. Some cars involved sustained heavy damage, some were relegated to the rear for involvement as is the rule at MIS - Zack included - and some were given their position back. None the less a 13th was the result and the team had ALOT of work to do prior to the start of the MIS Feature and the ZRR crew got the job done. MIS feature time came and Zack raced his way to 2nd. Following Johnny Baumeister Zack again hunted high and low for a good position to pass but Baumeister was the faster car - Zack finished 2nd. Congrats to Johnny B on his first MIS feature win. This Friday is Union 464 Night with dual 30 lap features. One of our Primary Sponsors Homburg Inc & Family will be in attendance so the team is looking for GREAT results. Following is a write up by Mr. John Wells - MIS Media on Friday's MIS race . See you Friday!
A Night of Features is a Night of Excitement at MIS -Baumeister, Reffner, Wilberg, Selsing, Padfield, and McNamara Win. By John Wells - Friday, August 14, 2009 (Oregon, WI)- Great weather brought out a large crowd, an excellent car count, and exciting racing as fans of all ages were treated to a night of features as part of Swiss Colony Night at Madison International Speedway, an ASA member track. When the night was over there were seven drivers who took home feature wins: John Baumeister Jr. in the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models, Bryan Reffner in the Super Late Models, Bobby Wilberg in the Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman, Bobby Selsing Jr. in the Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks, Kyle Padfield in the Roto Rooter Bandits, and Aaron Moyer in the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends. Ross Kenseth won the Big 8 Late Model race for the second time at MIS.
Baumeister and Urban Force Cruise to Late Model Victory- John Baumeister Jr. had no qualms about his starting position in the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Starting on the pole Baumeister led all 40 laps to pick up his first feature win of the 2009 season at MIS. “Starting on the pole certainly didn’t hurt anything- I’ll take it,” said Baumeister from the Rick’s Lawn and Garden Victory Lane. Baumeister and Ryan Goldade brought the field to the green flag. Zack Riddle would move by Goldade for second on lap Dells with Dave Feiler and Scott Broughton up to third and fourth respectively on lap 5. One lap later point leader Jeremy Miller would crack the top five. The race stayed green until a caution came out on lap 35 for a spin. Was this the opportunity that Riddle would need to get the lead. The answer was no as it was a great restart for Baumeister Jr. and it was very apparent that there would be no denying the Urban Force machine tonight as he wheeled his car to victory lane and his first win in the 2009 season. Riddle would hold off Feiler for second followed by Broughton and Miller in race that only took a little over fourteen minutes to complete. “It’s been way too long. This was awesome. I’m happy for everyone on the Urban Force team including the kids who help out every week. This is a great win,” said Baumeister. Miller set the pace in qualifying with a lap of 18.991. Miller has been dominant in qualifying this season as it was his eighth fast time out of nine tries. Two twelve lap qualifying races were held with wins going to Shaun Scheel and Andy Evraets.

BIG 8 SERIES - OREGON, Wis. (Friday, August 14, 2009) After a six week wait, it was Kyle Shear who jumped out front when the green flag finally waved on the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet “Rockweiler Insulation 38” at the Madison International Speedway. Shear built up a solid cushion over second place Casey Johnson while Zack Riddle worked his way up to fourth place eight laps into the main event. The first caution came 1there! laps in for a Kyle Jarlsberg spin exiting turn four, erasing Shear’s margin over Johnson. The Goodyear tires had barely heated back up when the second caution of the race came after Michael Bilderback helped turn MIS veteran Scott Broughton around on the backstretch, relegating both drivers to the back of the pack. The battle on the restart was for second as Andrew Kulka and Casey Johnson went side-by-side, with Kulka completing the pass halfway into the 38-lap event, as Riddle and Bobby Wilberg jumped on board the inside lane while Johnson dropped to fifth. Kulka immediately began to cut into Shear’s margin, setting up a move for the lead entering turn one and grabbing the top spot with thirteen laps remaining. Riddle and Shear dueled for second over the next three laps until the grip on the bottom of the track took hold, shooting Riddle up to the bridesmaid’s position and Wilberg to third while Shear dropped to fourth. Riddle closed the gap on Kulka, turning up the heat on the young driver as Wilberg joined the fray to make it a three-way battle for the win. A four-lap shootout was born after the third caution of the night came for a Brady Liddle spin on the frontstretch. With just three laps remaining, a fast Michael Bacchus, looking to move into second place, turned around Riddle setting off a chain reaction pileup that collected several cars including points leader Ross Kenseth, Bobby Wilberg, Jesse Saunders, Tyler Kelley and Chad Stevens. Kenseth was allowed to get his spot back, claiming the second position, right behind Kulka, after Riddle and Bacchus were sent to the back for their involvement in the incident. Wilberg and Stevens would see their nights end in disappointing fashion while two-time defending Big 8 Series champion Jeremy Miller took advantage to move up to fourth. Kenseth had the great restart that he needed, using the outside line to fly by Kulka in turns one and two for the lead and holding on over the final two laps for his third BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet feature victory of the season in the fourth race of the year for the series. In the process, Kenseth padded his points lead over Jeremy Miller with just three races remaining on the year. Kenseth started in twelfth, slowly but steadily maneuvering his way through the field before making his late race move for the win. Kulka, Shear, Miller and Skylar Holzhausen rounded out the top five. The next race for the BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet is the 29th annual Pepsi Wisconsin State Championships at "Wisconsin's Action Track", the Jefferson Speedway in Cambridge, Wisconsin. The Big 8 Series will headline the weekend, racing on both Friday and Saturday night at the quarter-mile before running twin 50-lap features. Friday July 31 Recap Ferrell Gas Night racing at MIS was great. Feature time had Zack almost out for the night when he received a hit from behind on a restart but he gathered it up for a 2nd place finish. Thank you to Pathfinder Chassis for the early Saturday work on the car. Hope you caught sight of the black number 24 driven by 15 year old MacKenzie Piller of Abroy IL. She was steering her FIRST race in Zack's former car sold over the winter. She did a great job! The following article is courtesy of Mr. John Wells - MIS Media.
Wilberg Doubles Up at MIS -Luck, Padfield, and Moyer Also Winners By Mr. John Wells MIS Media- Oregon, WI (July 31, 2009) Bob Wilberg found victory lane to his liking tonight as he won two features in two different divisions on a picture perfect night for racing at Madison International Speedway. Wilberg won the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models and the 20 lap feature for the Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman. “We've been doing the two car deal for many years. It's a lot of racing in a night. Our goal is to be able to get two wins and set fast times in both divisions so we haven't accomplished that yet,” said Wilberg after his second feature win. Three other drivers also took home victories with Kyle Padfield (Roto Rooter Bandits), Brad Luck (Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks), and Aaron Moyer (Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends) taking the honors.
Wilberg Races to Late Model Victory - A total of thirty Rockweiler Insulation Late Models were on hand at MIS tonight and after all was said and done in would be Bob Wilberg being the best of them all as he took home the checkered flag in the 40-lap feature. From the start it appeared that Casey Johnson had the potential of leading wire to wire. Johnson quickly moved past the front row of Jason Hicks and Chad Stevens on the first row and by lap ZRR had built a large lead. With Stevens, Cliff Rucks, Zack Riddle, and Chad Wood in hot pursuit. On lap 11, Wilberg broke into the top five and appeared to have the most speed of the challengers. Out front Johnson continued to build a sizeable margin over the competition until the caution flag came out for a spin on lap 13. His multi-car advantage was now gone. It was time for things to get interesting. On the restart Stevens put heavy pressue on Johnson and one lap later appeared to be ready to challenge for the lead as the two went into turn one. Unfortunately contact was made between the leaders ending the night for Johnson and sending Stevens to the rear of the field. This moved Riddle into the lead followed by Wilberg, Wood, Scott Broughton, and Dave Feiler. Riddle's lead would be short-lived as Wilberg wasted no time in getting up to challenge for the top spot. Wilberg took the opportunity to get by Riddle on lap 17 and vaulted to the lead; a position he would not relinquish. With Wilberg checking away from the field, the best races were behind him. Point leader Jeremy Miller cracked the top five on lap 20 and moved into fourth on lap 31. Disaster struck for Wood on lap 35 when his night ended due to engine failure. But it was clear to all that Wilberg was not going to be denied in his pursuit of two feature wins as he cruised to victory lane. Following Wilberg would be Riddle, Miller, Ross Kenseth, and Feiler. In victory lane Wilberg was asked by the voice of MIS, Eric Huenefeld, if the car was good. “Yeah, it was good. We've struggled a little bit this year and this is a brand new Lefthander ChassisÉwe figured it out last week. It was really good. This is a great car.” Miller set fast time for the seventh time in 2009 with a lap of 18.802. Heat wins were recorded by JD Leonard, Josh Wallace, and Kenseth. The 15-lap Last Chance race that advanced six cars to the feature was won by John Ovadal Jr.

Friday July 25 Recap: Golden Sands Speeday in Plover WI is a neat little track - never hitting this track in the past Zack and team enjoyed the visit. Rain came but the Big 8 Series got the race in the books. THANK YOU to the two crew members who made the trip - Brett Gustrowsky & Wes Arndt had their work cut out for them but they covered their normal jobs and took up the slack. Limited time on track for practice didn't help and Zack missed the automatic invert so he needed to race for a starting spot. Starting 23rd in the field had challenges but showed what he could do. Picking cars up one by one, we were sorry that the race didn't have another 20 laps left. A final finish of 15th was the result. Next up for ZRR is a trip home to MIS for weekly racing Friday July 31st, followed by a Big 8 Race at Wisconsin International Raceway's race in conjuction with the ASA LateModels Tuesday, August 4th. WIR is another track ZRR has never raced at. Practice is Monday 8/3. See you at MIS Friday and Tuesday at WIR. Following is the results.

Thursday July 23 2009 The team is loaded up and ready to race Friday night at Golden Sands Speedway, Plover WI for ZRR's first trip there as a racer for the BIG 8 Race. See you there!
Friday July 17 2009 - Rain was in the area but MIS got the race in. 6th in qualifying and 3rd in the heat race were the early results. Again, many changes took place trackside prior to feature time that had Zack starting 9th in the 40 lapper. Car was good on long runs but it seemed the yellow's came out on the wrong laps. 4th place in the feature was the result with Goldade and Zack right behind the dueling Kenseth/Wilberg pair. ZRR is OFF next Friday at MIS and is taking a trip to Golden Sands Speedway in Plover WI for the next BIG 8 race. Zack has never raced at GSS so the team is looking forward to the visit. See you there!
Kenseth Edges Wilberg in Late Model Excitement at MIS - Kleven, Fassett, Padfield & McNamara Also Winners. By Mr. John Wells MIS Media
Friday, July 17, 2009 (Oregon, WI)- Ross Kenseth held off Bob Wilberg to win the 40-lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models at Madison International Speedway on Coors Light / Pomps Tire Night. Although the temperature was cool the excitement on the track was hot as the fans were on their feet to watch Kenseth and Wilberg battle back and forth. Kurt Kleven (Brown's Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman), Don Fassett (Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks), Kyle Padfield (Roto Rooter Bandits), and Max McNamara (Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends) also won features.
A Classic Late Model Battle Goes to Kenseth- If you like side by side battles for the lead this race had all that and more as Ross Kenseth held off Bob Wilberg in the end to win the 40-lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. The twenty-five car field was ushered to the green flag by Ryan Miles, who was making his 2009 debut at MIS and Chad Stevens. Miles took the lead before the first caution of the race came out on lap Dells for a spin. Miles would maintain his lead followed by Brady Liddle, Wilberg, Kenseth, and Zack Riddle. Kenseth would move by Wilberg on lap 5 into the third position before the yellow flag waved again. Shortly after the restart Kenseth not only vaulted by Liddle for second but went right on by Miles as well to take the lead. Not to be outdone, Wilberg kept pace with Kenseth and moved into second. Kenseth would put some real estate between himself and Wilberg but never enough to get too comfortable. By lap 27 Wilberg was prepared to make his move for the lead and got inside of Kenseth coming out of turn four to take over the point. A spin on lap 28 brought out yet another caution flag and tightened up the field. Kenseth and Wilberg would battle it out side by side once the race resumed with Ryan Goldade up to challenge followed by Riddle and Stevens. Wilberg would maintain the lead until the caution came out again on lap 3ZRR for a spin. After a great restart, Wilberg put some room between himself and Kenseth. But Kenseth wasn't done. On lap 37 he was side by side with the leader and eventually took over the top spot when he dropped to the inside and got by Wilberg coming out of turn three. From this point it would be all Kenseth who was able to hold off Wilberg to pick up his first feature win in the division in 2009. Goldade would finish third followed by Riddle and Stevens. “We made a lot of changes to the car after the heat race. It was a lot of fun racing with Bobby Wilberg like that. This was one of my best races I've ever had here at MIS,” said Kenseth. “We just raced side by side out there. We weren't giving anyone anything we just raced really hard. It was a lot of fun,” said Wilberg. Miller set fast time with a lap of 18.656 with heat wins going to Vern Fagerberg Jr., John Ovadal Jr., and Kenseth.

Friday July 10 2009 - Sorry - For ANOTHER time this race season racing has been CANCELLED due to weather. ZRR will be practicing this week at an unvisited track so far this year following up with racing Friday July 17 at MIS for Coors Light Night. Here's a pic from last weeks race of Zack and a young fan. See you Friday!
Friday July ZRR 2009 - Fireworks & racing make for a great night at MIS. After last weeks feature win, the team was ready to race. Changes again took place prior to feature time and it was a good showing. Congrat's to Scott Broughton & Jeremy Miller on their wins. The first feature was good with Zack tailing Broughton but despite looking and looking for the perfect opportunity to pass for the lead, it never happened. Second place was the result.
The second feature had Zack running well but he was tied up in traffic too long. 30 laps were not enough time to move to the front in the excellent field and he finished 5th. The following article is courtesy of Mr. John Wells - MIS Media.
Broughton and Miller Win Late Model Features as Fireworks Light Up the Sky -Heelein, Selsing Jr., Stark, & Heine Also Winners. By John Wells - MIS Media
Oregon, WI (July 3, 2009)-- Call it “Racing and Booms” at Madison International Speedway as a large crowd witnessed the perfect combination of excellent racing and an awesome fireworks display courtesy of ThunderCat. Scott Broughton and Jeremy Miller each won a feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models tonight as part of the MIS Fireworks Extravaganza. Michael Heelein (Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman), Bobby Selsing Jr. (Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks), Gary Stark (International Four Cylinders), and Bob Heine (Grand National Vintage) also picked up feature wins.
Broughton Back in Victory Lane - It's been an up and down season for Scott Broughton in 2009. Hopefully things are looking up for him as he won the first 30-lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Broughton and Nathan Oppliger had the honors of pacing the field of twenty-two cars to the green flag. From the start it would be Broughton getting out to the early lead. Looking very strong, Dave Feiler was up to second by lap ZRR and looked like he had more than enough to challenge Broughton for the top spot. But one lap later Feiler slowed and eventually stopped on the backstretch bringing out the caution flag and ending Feiler's run. Broughton would continue to lead once the green flag flew again with John Baumeister Jr. up to second followed by Zack Riddle, Jeremy Miller, and Bob Wilberg. Riddle and Miller would be able to get by Baumeister Jr. prior to the caution flag coming out on lap 23 for a spin. With last week's feature winner Riddle close behind, Broughton got a great restart and led the rest of the way for a wire to wire win. Riddle would finish second followed by Baumeister Jr., Miller, and John Ovadal Jr. “This feels awesome. We've had a rough two or three weeks. This wasn't easy and it's the hardest I've had to work in a long time. Jeremy and those guys are so tough every time,” said Broughton. Miller set fast time with a lap of 18.849 and Kevin Knuese won the 15 lap Last Chance race.
Miller Captures the Checkered Flag - Despite being the point leader and setting fast time on five of six nights, Jeremy Miller had yet to win a weekly feature in the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models in 2009. That all changed tonight as Miller held off John Ovadal Jr. to win the second 30-lap feature. The invert from the first feature definitely favored Miller and Ovadal Jr. as they comprised the front row for the second 30-lap feature. Ovadal Jr. would lead the first two laps before Miller looked to the outside and the two raced side by side before Miller would eventually take the lead on lap 4. Miller would maintain his lead over Ovadal Jr. with John Baumeister Jr., Zack Riddle, and Scott Broughton all in the top five. Bob Wilberg would join the top five on lap 7 after passing Michael Bachaus only to suffer mechanical problems later in the race and having to go to the pits. Back to back caution flags for spins on laps 15 and 16 didn't seem to phase Miller who had a great restart after the second caution and was able to keep some real estate between himself and the rest of the field. From here it was all Miller would made his way to the Rick's Lawn and Garden Victory Lane. Ovadal Jr. would finish second followed by Baumeister Jr., Broughton, and Riddle. After suffering problems in the first feature, Dave Feiler would make his way up thirteen positions to finish in sixth place. “I didn't know if we'd ever win one of these. The cars been really good this year and we've set fast time five nights. I like starting back and working my way to the front. I wouldn't have it any other way even though we started up front tonight. I'll definitely take this one,” said Miller.

Friday June 26 2009 Recap -All the HARD work finally paid off. Two times this year ZRR has been in place to win only to have unexpected things happen on track. Not so tonight at MIS.4th Quick qualifying and 4th in the Heat resulted in lots of changes made trackside prior to feature time. Great racing and an exciting feature were on tap for all for Construction Labor Management Night at MIS. HARD racing followed and a WIN was the result. The car took a few rubs along the right side but that didn't slow it down - Royal Sign Cuts has that covered. THANK YOU to HOMBURG INC & FAMILY, MORGAN SHOES, TT INC, J & J WILD, PATHFINDER CHASSIS & WEGNER MOTORSPORTS along with everyone who made it down to congratulate the team after race time.
The team is hard at work making adjustments for practice tomorrow at MIS for the AllStarChallenge/BIG 8 Race on Tuesday. There are 51 TEAMS PreEntered for the BIG 8 race and the racing should be phenominal. Hope to see everyone there! Zack Riddle Wins Construction Labor Management 40 - Kalbus, Ciano, Padfield & McNamara Also Victorious By Mr. John Wells - MIS Media
Zack Riddle held off a strong field of Rockweiler Insulation Late Models to win the Construction Labor Management 40 at Madison International Speedway on Friday night. Four other drivers also took their cars to victory lane with Jay Kalbus (Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman), Terry Ciano Jr. (Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks), Kyle Padfield (Roto Rooter Bandits), and Max McNamara (Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends) earning wins. A great crowd, perfect weather, and an outstanding field of cars all added up to another great racing experience for the fans on Construction Labor Management Night at MIS.
There's No Denying Riddle Tonight
Zack Riddle has been close. He's been the leader in two races this season only to have disaster strike while he was running out front. But tonight there was no denying Riddle as he won the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Twenty-two cars came to the green flag led by Chad Stevens and defending division champion Bob Wilberg. Stevens would get the early lead with Riddle moving past Wilberg for second place followed by Dave Feiler and Jeremy Miller. On lap 5 Miller would move into the top five when he powered by Wilberg. Staying under an extended period of green flag racing, Stevens would continue to maintain his lead over the field with Riddle right there in second place. On lap 20 Ross Kenseth would join the top five but it was still the Stevens-Riddle show out front. Biding his time and waiting for the right opportunity, Riddle was unable to get by Stevens. On lap 32 the car of Kyle Shear made heavy contact with the front stretch wall bringing out the caution flag. Shear's car was damaged but he was ok. Stevens would continue to lead following the restart with Riddle beginning to realize that the number of laps was winding down. On lap 36 he saw what he was looking for and dropped down to the inside of Stevens going into turn three and cleared him for the lead coming out of turn four. Miller and Feiler would make their way past Stevens and move up to challenge Riddle for the lead. But there was no denying Riddle tonight as he led the rest of the way to pick up his first win in the Late Model division. Miler would finish second followed by Feiler, Kenseth, and Stevens. Completing the top ten were Wilberg, Ryan Goldade, Brady Liddle, John Ovadal Jr., and Nathan Oppliger.
“We really had to work for this one but we got it. There were some really fast cars behind me especially Jeremy whose always tough. It feels like this should be our third win of the year but it's our first and we hope there will be more coming in 2009,” said Riddle in a post race interview with Eric Huenefeld.
Miller set fast time for the fourth time in 2009 with a lap of 18.888. Brad Becker won his first-ever race at MIS in the heats with Dann Barber and Ty Reedy also taking home wins. Michael Bachaus won the fifteen lap last chance race.

Bilderback Edges Miler in Late Model Feature Kalbus, Selsing Jr., Ace, and McNamara Back in Victory Lane By Mr. John Wells- MIS Media
Once again the fans at Madison International Speedway were treated to an exciting night of very competitive racing in all five weekly divisions. When the night was over it would be Michael Bilderback, Jay Kalbus, Bobby Selsing Jr., Chester Ace, and Max McNamara who would be feature winners.
Close races between Michael Bilderback and Jeremy Miller are nothing new at MIS as Miller outdistanced Bilderback in the May 2008 Big 8 race on Wisconsin’s Fastest Half Mile. But tonight Bilderback said “no more” as he held off Miller to win the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Jason Hicks and Rich Schumann Jr. had the honors of leading this talented field to the green flag. Hicks jumped out to the early lead with Ryan Goldade and Bilderback up to second and third after one lap. Appearing like he was ready to check away from the field, Hicks looked very strong in the lead followed by Goldade, Bilderback, Zack Riddle, and Scott Broughton. On lap 12 Bilderback would maneuver his way around Goldade for second and by lap 15 had closed the gap between himself and Hicks. With good races all over the track, Hicks would do his best to keep the lead over this hard-charging group. On lap 2Dells Bilderback would look to the inside of Hicks going into turn three with Goldade having similar ideas. Closely following this trio were Riddle and Miller, who was up to third. Hicks would continue to lead before the caution flag came out on lap 26 when Goldade spun on the lowside coming out of turn one. Bilderback would continue to apply the pressure to Hicks after the restart, biding his time for the perfect opportunity. His chace would come on lap 27 as he moved to the inside of Hicks coming down the backstretch before finding room on the inside going into turn three and making the pass for the lead coming out of turn four. Hicks would get off pace slightly on lap 29 allowing Bilderback to increase his lead with Riddle and Miller racing for second. Miller would get by Riddle for second on lap 31 and begin cutting into Bilderback’s lead. Bilderback and Miller put some ground between themselves and third place with all of the ingredients in place for another close finish. On lap 37 Miller was looking for any way to get by Bilderback. Inside. Outside. Not quite enough. Finally while coming out of turn four and running the outside groove, Miller inched his way past the leader only to realize that the caution flag had come out for a spin back in the field. Still the leader, Bilderback would pace the field back to the green but the restart would be waved off when Broughton and John Baumeister Jr. got together while coming out of turn four to take the green. When the race went green again it would be Miller trying to get to the outside of Bilderback for the lead, but he would be unsuccessful and have to settle for second place on this night. Rounding out the top five were Riddle, Feiler, and Bob Wilberg. Miller set fast time for the third night in 2009 with a lap of 18.773. Heat race wins went to Mike Storkson, AJ Henricksen, and Ty Reedy. The Last Chance race was won by Brady Liddle. After four weeks of racing, there have been no repeat winners in the twelve heat races, two Last Chance races, nor four features. Miller is the divison points leader with a 317-295 lead over Wilberg.

Friday June 5th 2009 Recap - Well, sometimes things happen on the track you can't quite explain but if you were at MIS on Friday you were treated to an interesting event. A WIN in the heat had the team feeling good about feature time. Taking the lead at 10 laps and holding until 35 of the 40 lapper, Zack and Ross Kenseth made contact coming out of turn 4 resulting in Zack spinning. MIS had both drivers head to the tail of the pack for the final 5 laps. Zack drove hard and managed a 16th place. Not what the team was looking for but that's what the results were. Congrats to Tyler Kelley on WINNING his qualifier to advance to the Feature. Following is Mr. John Well's report to enjoy. Look for Zack and the team next Friday, June 12th at MIS ready for the next race event. See you there!
Stevens Captures the Late Model Flag at MIS - Courtesy of Mr. John Wells -MIS Media- Oregon, WI (Friday, June 5, 2009) Chad Stevens held off a hard-charging field of cars to win the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models on Pepsi night at Madison International Speedway. Once again the fans were treated to perfect weather and exciting racingÉan unbeatable combination. Jay Kalbus (Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman), Chester Ace (Roto Rooter Bandits), and Max McNamara (Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends) returned to victory lane for a second time in 2009 while Chad Knaus led wire to wire for his first-ever MIS victory in the Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks.
Stevens Takes the Checkered Flag in Late Models - Chad Stevens earned his first feature win in 2009 by holding off a field of twenty-two cars in the 40 lap feature for the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. Shaun Scheel and Zack Riddle had the honors of leading the talented field of Rockweiler Insulation Late Models to the green flag. Scheel would gain the early supremacy and would lead the first ten circuits with Riddle in hot pursuit. Back to back caution flags would come out for a spin on lap 10 and one on the restart. On the next restart Riddle wasted no time and passed Scheel on the inside coming out of turn two. Behind the leaders were Ryan Goldade, Ross Kenseth, and Stevens who were ready to challenge for the lead. Kenseth moved into second place on lap 14 followed by Goldade, Stevens, and Jesse Saunders. The caution flag would come out on lap 2Dells for a spin while Riddle and Kenseth and put some distance between themselves and the field. Riddle and Kenseth would battle it out for the lead until lap 35 when the two made contact in turn four bringing out the caution and sending both cars to the rear of the field. This moved Stevens into the lead followed by Goldade, Bob Wilberg, John Baumeister Jr., and Dave Feiler. Stevens and Goldade would soon be side by side for the lead on lap 37 with Goldade taking the lead briefly on lap 38 before relinquishing the top spot back to Stevens. A spin in turn three would bring out another caution flag and appeared to set up another typical exciting MIS finish. On the restart Goldade’s car would make contact with the front stretch wall with both right side tires getting off the ground briefly and waving off the green flag. Goldade would be able to continue with no problems, but Stevens had the most in the end to pick up his first win of the season. Baumeister Jr. would take over second from Goldade at the end with Feiler finishing fourth and Wilberg fifth. “We might not have had the fastest car but we held them off at the end,” said Stevens from victory lane. “It was kind of being in the right place at the right time for us. I got where I had to be and held them off.” Heat races were won by Rebecca Kasten, John Ovadal Jr., and Zack Riddle. The 15 lap Last Chance race was won by Tyler Kelley, his first win in a late model. Fast qualifier was John Baumeister Jr. with a lap of 18.864.

Friday May 29 2009 Recap - Weather was good (no rain) for MIS's 2nd weekly show. Practice went good and timing in early had Zack 3rd with a 18.806. Miller ended up 1st with a 18.746 & Nathan filling in for Ross was 2nd with a 18.803. Zack's laptimes keep dropping and this is a GREAT sign. Heat race had Zack starting 8th - 4th row ouside and ended up 3rd behind the side by side action of Wilberg & Stevens. Feature draw had Zack starting 9th. Car was good and with a yellow with 5 to go, Zack drove hard but did not have enough to pass Wilberg & Baumeister. Lots of lapped traffice made the event a challenge but the racing was super. Check Zack out next Friday June 3rd at MIS. See You There! Following article is courtesy of Mr. John Wells - MIS Media.
It was a perfect night for racing at MIS with all 5 weekly division in action.Bob Wilberg calmly worked his way through traffic to take the checkered flag in the Rockweiler Insulation Late Models tonight as part of Weaver Auto Parts / Scout Night at Madison International Speedway. Bret Schmidt took top honors in the Brown Heating and Air Conditioning Area Sportsman with Bobby Selsing Jr. winning a thriller in the Weaver Auto Parts Hobby Stocks, Chester Ace topping the field in the Roto Rooter Bandits, and Max McNamara back in victory lane for the Pellitteri Waste Systems Legends.
Wilberg Back in Victory Lane - Defending track champion Bob Wilberg returned to victory lane tonight by topping a field of twenty-six Rockweiler Insulation Late Models. It was Kevin Knuese and Andy Evraets who paced this large field to the green flag with Knuese speeding his way to the early advantage. Shaun Scheel would move up to second ahead of Evraets with Ryan Goldade, John Baumeister Jr., and Wilberg into the top five by lap 3. Following a caution flag on lap 4, Knuese would continue his leading ways with Baumeister Jr. and Wilberg up to second and third respectively by lap 11. By lap 17 lapped traffic would play a role in this race as Wilberg was able to move by the Urban Force machine of Baumeister. On lap 18 Wilberg was up to challenge Knuese for the lead and on lap 19 both he and Baumeister would make their way to the front. Wilberg would continue to outpace Baumeister Jr. before the caution would come out on lap 20 for a spin. Zack Riddle, Jeremy Miller, and Nathan Haseleu were also ready to join the mix as they had now moved into the top five. The top five would remain in the same order, but it was clearly evident to everyone that lapped traffic would be the biggest challenge for the leaders. Wilberg proved that patience has its rewards as he calmly worked his way around traffic to maintain his lead. The final caution flag of the race came out on lap 45 for a stalled car setting up a shootout between Wilberg and Baumeister Jr. On lap 47 Baumeister thought he might be able to get to the inside of Wilberg going into turn three but the opportunity quickly disappeared and Wilberg would would cruise to victory lane by a 0.303 second advantage. Rounding out the top five would be Riddle, Miller, and Haseleu. “It was a pretty interesting night,” said Wilberg from victory lane. “Lapped traffic was a challenge but they let us race through and it was fun trying to work around everyone. This is what it’s all about.” When asked about the competitiveness of the Late Model field in 2009 Wilberg said, “It’s been a handful every year. You’ve got guys that have raced here for many years who are always tough plus some of the super late model guys who have come to race with us. There’s a lot of good guys out there so you really have to earn it.” Following the races it was announced that the Urban Force Racing Team and driver John Baumeister Jr. donated their winnings to the Green County DARE program. Thursday May 26 2009- Team is loaded and ready and weather looks GREAT for this Friday's MIS Racing. It's Weaver AutoParts Night along with Scout Night. Remember admission is now $9.00 for the hill and kids 1there! and under are FREE. Kid Clubbers - remember to have Mom or Dad bring you down to the trailer AFTER the races for a treat and a picture for the website. Zack's pitspot is directly in front of you as you come down the hill across from the Tech Shed. See you there!
Friday May 2Dells 2009 FINALLY after all the rain the Midwest has endured for Spring an opening night of racing happened. It was GREAT to see Andrew Homburg, Mitchell & Chris for a night of racing. Look for Mitchell & Chris Monday in the parade with ZRR. Practice went GREAT for the team and qualifying resulted in a 5th quick. Trying some new things for the Heat race resulted in a 7th. MIS did a neat thing and sent Zack and his ASA Educational Students Mike & Daniel on track with Mike taking the mic and describing his scholarship winning's in '08. Our goal is to get both of them money for college this year!
Roll for lineup of the feature was not in Zack's favor and had him starting 12th - 6th row outside. Tangeling with another driver on a pass sent him to the tail and he worked his way up for an 11th place out of 26 drivers. Congrats to Scott Broughton on his win.. he was the man to beat on Friday. A bad tire was the problem and the team is looking for much better results this Friday at MIS. Don't forget Monday's Monona Chamber of Commerce Parade on Monona Drive - this parade has been listed as the longest & most attended in the state of Wisconsin. Happy Memorial Day everyone! See you there!
Friday May 15 2009 - Well, for the 6th out of 8 events so far for 2009 racing is RAINED OUT. Catch ZRR next Friday at MIS for racing. Thursday May 14 2009 - The LM Crew's loading up & ready to race MIS Friday May 15 for the show. Last Friday's Opener at MIS was rained out prior to feature time so no points from the racing. CONGRATS to Tyler Kelley for winning his Heat! Here's a few pic's from opening weekend - thanks to Tim Thoma for his camera work. Enjoy!
Monday May 4 2009 - Well, sometimes you win and sometimes you struggle. ZRR was looking great for time trials and feature time. Unfortunanetly, racing results were not. Timing in 3rd out of 51 cars EARLY in the lineup with the new chassis and motor were great. Changes were made in the pits prior to the Feature race and they were the correct ones. Bad luck on track led to an overheating issue that ended Zack's race. Check Zack out this FRIDAY at MIS for the season opener. Following article is courtesy of Big 8.
Story by By Jordan Kuehne:OREGON, WI. (Sunday, May 3, 2009) – Ross Kenseth did it again tonight, collecting his third career BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet feature win in the Joe Shear Classic 38. The 15-year-old Kenseth rallied from a sluggish start using a little bit of luck to best a field of 51 Big 8 Series late models at Madison International Speedway and in the process, bringing the packed house to their feet in approval. Kenseth, the 2008 Big 8 Series Rookie of the Year, and fellow young gun Michael Bilderback led the field to green in one of two tribute events to the late Midwest short track legend, Joe Shear. Bilderback would jump out to the early lead in the 38-lap Big 8 Series main event as Kenseth faded from his second place starting spot back to fourth by lap three. Brooklyn, Wi. native and Madison International Speedway regular Zack Riddle took the lead away from Michael Bilderback on lap 1ASA diving down low into turn one and making it stick to claim the top spot. Fast qualifier Bobby Wilberg, pulling double duty on the evening, was the first victim on Kenseth’s charge back to the front, falling to fifth after Kenseth passed him on lap 14 and brought Scott Broughton with him into fourth. On lap 16, Kenseth got underneath Bilderback exiting turn two and took away second. Up front, Riddle was pulling away from the field building a 20 car length lead by the time the first caution came out on lap 23 when Casey Johnson blew a motor entering turn one and knocked down the wall. Tim Sargent spun out on the frontstretch to avoid the accident. Riddle almost spun as well when he hit Johnson’s oil trail but managed to hold on. Riddle's trouble wasn’t over though as he was forced to stop in the middle of turns one and two because his radio had come unplugged. Consequently, Riddle’s spotter was unable to prevent him from hitting a garbage barrel causing Riddle to smash the nose of his 2009 Ford Fusion in and dragging debris around the track. Riddle was forced to retire to the pits shortly after track workers removed the barrel from underneath his front valance and Kenseth took advantage of the leader's misfortune to inherit the top spot. Kenseth would quickly jump out to a five car length lead on the restart but Scott Broughton closed the gap and started working the inside of Kenseth’s Blain’s Farm & Fleet 2009 Ford Fusion on lap 27. Broughton wasn’t able to complete the pass on Kenseth before the second caution of the race flew on lap 32 when Ed Szegalowski Jr. spun around in turn two. The field would bunch up for another restart and this time Broughton would stay right on Kenseth’s back bumper when the green flag waved. It wouldn’t matter though as Kenseth pulled away from the field en route to the checkered flag winning by a solid eight car lengths over Broughton. Rounding out the top five were two-time defending BRP Big 8 Series champion Jeremy Miller, Michael Bilderback and his uncle, 2006 Big 8 Series champion Ricky Bilderback. Kyle Shear, driving the #36 tribute car in honor of Joe Shear, finished 12th. Beloit’s Bobby Wilberg took home fast time in qualifying with a lap of 18.841 seconds. Skylar Holzhausen and Brady Liddle brought home the wins in the last chance races. The BRP Big 8 Series presented by Gandrud Chevrolet will be in action again on Tuesday, June 30th as they return to Madison International Speedway as part of The Swiss Colony All-Star Challenge event.
